Google Scholarships To Study In The US Or Canada

Google offers five scholarship programs for students to study in institutions across the US and Canada. Here, you can find all the information regarding the scholarships in detail. Check them out! 

Eligibility To Apply 

  • You can apply for the scholarship if you fulfill the following conditions: 
  • You are a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program for the current academic year. 
  • You have an excellent academic record. After completing the scholarship study, you will be in the second year of your program at a recognized university. 
  • You will be studying computer engineering, computer science, or another related technical course in the field of computer science. 
  • You can illustrate your passion for increasing the representation of underrepresented communities and groups in the fields of technology and computer science with your leadership skills. 

Essentials For The Application Procedure

To apply for the scholarship, you need to provide details regarding your academics, proficiency in the field, and commitment to bringing about a change. You need to submit the following documents with the application: 

  • Details about yourself that include contact information, present academic status, and details regarding chosen universities or institutions of study. 
  • Curriculum vitae or resume that highlights your participation in community events and technical projects. 
  • Documents proving your academic qualification from the current or previous institution, if you have earned a degree or diploma. 
  • Your answers to two short essay questions (in 400 words or less) 

You must keep all the above documents ready in PDF format to be uploaded at the time of applying for the scholarship. If you are shortlisted, you must participate in a 15-minute live interaction. 

Important Points To Keep In Mind

  •  You are required to apply for the scholarship through the Lime Connect website. To apply, you need to register at the portal and submit all the relevant documents with Lime Connect. 
  • Selected candidates will directly receive the scholarship amount, which they can use only for fees, tuition, and other educational expenses. 

Generation Google Scholarship (North America) 

With its innovative initiatives, Google aims to empower historically excluded groups from the technology field. The Generation Google Scholarship encourages people from various backgrounds to showcase their skills and passion for the computing industry. Some of them include black and African American communities, Latina/Hispanic, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders, and American Indian communities and women. Aspiring students who qualify for the scholarship will receive 10,000 USD if studying in the USA and 5,000 CAD if studying in Canada for the next academic year. You need to complete an online application by providing the following documents: 

  • Personal information, including contact details and information regarding current and future universities. Details about your family and financial situation. 
  • Academic documents from present and previous universities/institutions, if applicable. 
  • A curriculum vitae or resume showcasing your skills, achievements, and academic qualifications. 
  • Written answers to three essay questions in 500 words or less. 

You must ensure that all the documents are in PDF format at the time of upload. Your application will be reviewed based on your skills, knowledge, and passion for the computer science field.

 Important Points To Keep In Mind 

You cannot apply for the scholarship if you have received any of the scholarships, including the Generation Google Scholarship, Google Lime Scholarship, Google Veterans of America Scholarship, Women Techmakers Scholarship for Computer Science, and Women Techmakers Scholarship for Gaming.

 Who Cannot Apply For The Scholarship?

Google Student Veterans Of America Scholarship

The Google Student Veterans of America scholarship is intended for military veterans who wish to pursue a career in computer science in the United States. To encourage the student veterans, Google will assist in the form of a scholarship for $10,000 for the next academic year. Here are the details regarding the qualifications and requirements to apply for the scholarship. 

Eligibility To Apply

To become eligible for the scholarship, you must fulfill the following conditions: 

  • You are currently an undergraduate or graduate student at a university or institution. 
  • You are going to enroll or have been accepted as a full-time student at a university or institution in the US for the next academic year. 
  • You have a strong record of academic performance. 
  • You are studying computer engineering, computer science, or any related field in computing and technology, including software engineering, information systems, systems administration, information technology, applied networking, and electrical engineering, with a heavy course load of computer science. You are presently a student veteran who holds a DD-214 and has records to prove it. Or you are on Active Duty and have Active Duty orders and a Memorandum of Understanding from your commanding officer that shows you currently have good standing with your unit. Student veterans can include National Guard and Reserve members. 
  • You either have received an honorable discharge or are in good standing within the service of your branch.

  • Records of academic qualifications from present and previous institutions, if applicable. Unofficial records are acceptable.

  • Two reference letters from any of your professors, instructors, supervisors, or advisors. 
  • You must also provide either a DD Form 2-14 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD-214). You can also provide Active Duty orders and a Memorandum of Understanding proving that you are in good standing with your unit. 
  • Your written response to three essay questions in 500 words.
